"I have lived on the lip of insanity, wanting to know reasons, knocking on a door. It opens. I've been knocking from the inside." I need to gear up for the canvass!

Trail blazing Revolutionary Road

No sitting on this Saturday.
I am saying a prayer for my canvas. Releasing stress and lifting up my sincerest wishes that all will be dandy, and that my volunteers will be handy. It is lovely weather.  I pray   for my many people- as they open their doors they will also open their minds. May they take their civic duty seriously. and if you will it, if it is in fact  in our best interest may we get lots of IDs today. thanks for listening man upstairs, you strengthen me.

Why is it 90+ degrees? Don't enjoy the sweating! Silly global climate change. The leaves have already began to turn from green to golden/auburn.
grumpiness - my body's grudge against stickiness subsided after I took a moment to breath post-door knocking. I was able to acknowledge that while my low tolerance for heat exposure, the amount of exercise it required for my bodies endorphins to also get kicking (thanks to my busy schedule as of late) was increasingly low. So I was able to manage a smile through my exhaustion.  then I got free iced tea! (the joy of free things is not to be underestimated) The town we chose to cover today has a fair going on (so we got in some quality viz as well ;).

As I sat there relishing the refreshment of finally resting my butt on a cushion with an ice beverage in my hand.  Teetotaler today at the bar I looked up at the TV- Instantaneously love drunk (apparently that tolerance is also low these days). Sports on the screen. Sports star- a dream, Verile vision.   It was ths State School team's cutie kicker! Cheers to Fall football and a canvass complete. All felt right with the world again, realigned. The only thing more refreshing than lemonade at the end of a hot day? good timing, especially at the pace my life is kicking these days.

Face-Forward Friday

I make lots of faces over the course of the day.

"Since no one is perfect, it follows that all great deeds have been accomplished out of imperfection. Yet they were accomplished, somehow, all the same."
– Lois McMaster Bujold
Some of their choices will be wrong, Howard acknowledges, but it is better to live in an imperfect world of individual responsibility than it is to live within a dehumanizing legal thicket that seeks to eliminate risk through a tangle of micromanaging statutes.

-Thank you to Julia, who got her weekly report in on time. The rest of you are late.

I really didn't want to have to start being an asshole in September. Please don't make me do that.

Hopefully you will all report a lot more recruitment dials today than you have been the rest of this week, because playing catch up is really the only excuse I can think of for not being on time with other things.-

ehhh, i have had a rough week. but this bodes well for me I just keep watching this clip the oatmeal commercial and there is a kid im working with now who's cell phone ring is my alarm..... and my spin on that was that it is kinda like pushing the refresh button on my day. everytime it goes off. and im letting it slide b/c he's a cool kid. and has been answering his phone very promptly. and the person who calls him the most is letting me move in with her:)

But yeah Everyone needs to step up their game. I am definitely included in this prob more so than others cause i don't have an easy district.

Through It. Thursday

"Yeah, Julia's cool, we shared a fork. " Ellen's dad. Hahaaa I just don't even know. What a gem.

I got to watch Glee last night on Hulu. And its funny they were trying to RECRUIT PEOPLE- that was the theme of the whole episode and that has been the theme of my whole week. And that is why I love Glee there is always a pertinent message for me, and i can smile and for an hour i get to pretend that I can sing my way through life like Mary Popins and take everything with a spoon full of sugar.

Willful Wednesday

Here we go.
Today I fixed a toilet. Joe, the entire state director, came to visit my new office. That was good times as he's super nice. He agreed that raisins are nature's gummy candy. I have mini boxes of them on my new desk. I am hoping to have freshly picked apples sometime soon. God bless fall time. That rhymes with call time. I think thats why I said that. Call time is how I drain away the hours these days. Clearly I am tired, I blame low iron today as a large factor in this instance.

Numbers are making me loopy, but I have been lucky to come into people- blessed volunteers- that adore numbers. This one accountant convinced an engineer today to vote for my candidate after describing to him the GAP principals for the budget. Yum.

My vols plugged though calls today. Guess it's karma cause today I was super diligent about calls as well. There's a team happy hour. I'm tired but am going to stop by since I missed what was the "shit show" yestermorning.

Blasted Sunday

Our organizer from TEXAS should know better than to have us make calls dunring the football game really!...

I am good at attempting to divert topics away from football, but boys are much more amenabile when I have food to tempt them with.

At least I have my cashew juice to look forword to!

– Eleanor Roosevelt
I really enjoyed canvassing today. First time really.
Also, got some great pizza with raw garlic, basil and brocolli.

Great older guy Steve McGrath bought us all local chocolate and was very knowledgeable. Also drove a silver volvo.

Freaky Friday

People are coming in with off moods or colds or odd traffic stories. But I am feeling good. Continuing to fight my battle against the spreadsheets. Things are a bit off for whatever reason.

Let me share some rationale....

Phone banking and Canvassing can seem daunting for a myriad of reasons, however we continue to conduct these types of voter contacts because they yield proven results. We believe it’s vital to gather these numbers. The info we collect during these efforts provides us tangible data in a form we can use to better understand the conditions of our given “field” which allows us to systematically proceed in developing the most effective strategy. The conditions are constantly changing, as it is still early in this election season push, and we need to know how to best channel our efforts. Does it seem that people still need a lot of persuasion? If particular questions keep coming up we can tailor TV ads to address areas of policy that undecided’s would like further elaboration on? etc etc. It’s our responsibility to cater to the voter’s in order to have good voter turnout. And we all know that strong the voter turnout historically leads to a democratic victory!

A Day of Rest

Keep holy the sabbath. I didn't make it into the office till after 5pm so it's pretty much like I had Sunday off, especially considering I made it to the beach.

3 fellow field Organizers

I did observe the sabbath and the first reading was one of my favorites !!!!!

Book of Wisdom Chapter 9
13For what man knows God's counsel, or who can conceive what our LORD intends?
For the deliberations of mortals are timid, and unsure are our plans.
For the corruptible body burdens the soul and the earthen shelter weighs down the mind that has many concerns.
And scarce do we guess the things on earth, and what is within our grasp we find with difficulty; but when things are in heaven, who can search them out?
Or who ever knew your counsel, except you had given Wisdom and sent your holy spirit from on high?
18And thus were the paths of those on earth made straight, and men learned what was your pleasure, and were saved by Wisdom.

Laboring on a Saturday

This morning I went to a famers market. However, I picked up that refreshing cucumber when we stopped to pick up the new ford explorer for the campaign. They had a sweet little farm stand right out front of the small quick mart/cashier place. Anyways the farmers market was located on the same street where the field staff went out last night. But, it was really small and to be honest I was pretty hyped up for it and it turned out to be kinda a let down. So I walked on and got a wheatgrass shot from Robeks and a pomegranate smoothie. We were supposta be out at events, and the weather couldn't be more glorious

Thumbwrestle for it. Battle of wits!!

Ah, but speaking of sleep I slept at a new house tonight. It was interesting meeting the people- they have a 7 year old son named Dylan. I kid you not this is a direct quote, "How about I have no bedtime when there's girls in the house" They were very welcoming.

Left Over Wednesday

This is down at the other end of the hall right after you come Off the elevator! I wish it was Enrique Iglesias, "BABY I ('D) LIKE IT". But it's hott enough as it is here, esp. for New England. I am soo glad Enrique is back on the airwaves, sooo lustworthy! He's always been my favorate even back when he first hit the scene when alotta my peers where drooling over boy bands. Hmmmn who's got the better taste ;)
